gold jewelryI have just read another contributor's post in which she talks about letting her daughter borrow her gold jewelry for the day. I can definitely understand why she was hesitant to say yes.  I am raising my step-granddaughter Alisha and I know that she would dearly love to get her little hands on some of my gold jewelry. It will be a very long time before I say yes to such a request. In fact I may never agree to let Alisha use my gold jewelry because it holds sentimental value and I would be very upset if it were lost or damaged. Of course I realize that once Alisha grows up she may be a very responsible person but at the moment I definitely could not trust her with my gold jewelry. She is forever losing and misplacing her things or leaving stuff at a friend’s house. She is very absent minded and has not yet learned how to take care of her belongings properly. I wouldn’t even consider buying Alisha her own gold jewelry at this point in time. Alisha’s step father bought her gold earrings for her birthday and when I saw her gift I wondered how long it would be before she lost one.
