My husband has given me several items of gold jewelry over the years but for me it never gets old. I am just as delighted about receiving it today as I was when we first met. I think perhaps the gift of gold jewelry is so well received by women is that we associate it with glamour and prosperity. I can remember hearing tales of princesses who wore gold jewelry and fine clothing when I was a young child and I would picture myself as the protagonist in the tale. I also think the common love of gold jewelry has something to do with the fact that it is a gift that looks fantastic and lasts for a whole lifetime provided it is well looked after. The same cannot really be said for an item of clothing or a bottle of perfume.
