gold jewelryI have a sixteen year old niece called Alice and she does something which I think is a little strange with her gold jewelry earrings. Alice only ever wears one gold jewelry earring at a time. Apparently this is something that is part of the Emo fashion which has been very popular among adolescents since the early 2000s.  When I was Alice’s age only boys wore a single gold jewelry earring as opposed to a pair. I always wore two gold jewelry earrings at once. The adolescents of today might call me unfashionable or even conservative because in my opinion a single gold jewelry earring does not look right on a female. I feel the same way about women having multiple piercings or having more than one tattoo.  I prefer to wear two gold jewelry earrings because to me it seems more feminine. I fear that my dislike of a single gold jewelry earring on a female may be a sign that I am starting to get old.  You see Alice most certainly is not the only adolescent or young adult female I have seen wearing just one gold jewelry earring at a time. It’s something I have seen a lot on young women in recent years.
