gold jewelry

Last night during dinner my son and daughter had a discussion whether they thought their grandmother preferred gold jewelry or sterling silver jewelry.  I didn’t say much, instead, I decided to take this time to listen to my son and daughter and see how they would decide which their grandmother preferred.   Since she was my mother, I knew that my mother actually loved both gold jewelry and sterling silver equally, but I wasn’t about to tell them that, but instead I’d let them figure it out on their own.

My son insisted that she loved gold jewelry, while my daughter talked about being with her last week when she ordered some sterling silver jewelry online, so she was convinced grandma loved silver more.  Finally, they decided they couldn’t agree, so they decided to go straight to the source and they called my mother.   They asked whether she preferred gold jewelry or sterling silver jewelry and she laughed and wanted to know how this discussion started.   They didn’t tell her they wanted to buy her something for Mother’s Day, but instead said they were discussing jewelry over dinner.  She confirmed what I already knew and that was that she loved them both equally and when they hung up both kids came to the conclusion that maybe they should order some jewelry which had both sterling silver and gold on it, that way she could wear it with all her jewelry.   They are definitely smart children.  They must take after their mother.
